Boyle Applauds Preemptive Pardons Issued by President Biden

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) issued the following statement after President Biden announced he would be pardoning General Mark A. Milley, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the Members of Congress and staff who served on the Select Committee, and the U.S. Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan police officers who testified before the Select Committee:

"As someone who strongly advocated for these pardons, I applaud President Biden for making this bold and righteous decision. Trump has repeatedly abused power to serve his own interests and threatened to punish his political opponents.

These pardons are essential to protecting the public servants and law enforcement who defended our democracy and worked tirelessly to keep us safe. This action ensures they can live and serve without fear of political retribution. President Biden's leadership was both necessary and principled."

Background:

  • On December 4, Boyle called on President Biden to issue these pardons, writing that "these patriots shouldn't have to live in fear of political retribution for doing what's right."
  • On January 13, Boyle again called for President Biden to issue these pre-emptive pardons and take "decisive action to protect these public servants and uphold the integrity of our justice system."
