Get ready to vote in the 2025 Municipal Election

The City of Grande Prairie is encouraging all eligible voters to prepare ahead of the upcoming 2025 Municipal Election on Monday, October 20 by reviewing voting dates, eligibility, identification requirements and voting locations to help ensure a smooth experience at the polls.

Voting Dates

Advance voting is available at Teresa Sargent Hall in the Montrose Cultural Centre on the following days:

  • October 9, 10 and 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • October 16, 17 and 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voting on Election Day is available at all voting locations on:

  • October 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voting Eligibility

Eligible voters must be:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • A Canadian citizen
  • A resident of the City of Grande Prairie.

ID Requirements

All voters must present identification to cast a ballot and will be required to complete Form 13: Elector Register at the polls.

Registered Voters

Voters who pre-registered on the Permanent Electors Register must show one piece of government-issued identification containing their name and photo, such as:

  • Alberta Driver's Licence
  • Alberta Identification Card
  • Canadian Passport
  • Canadian Citizenship Card
  • Canpass, Fast, or Nexus Card
  • CATSA Identification Card
  • Canadian Forces ID Card
  • Certificate of Indian Status Card
  • First Nation Member Card
  • Firearm Possession and Acquisition (PAL) Licence
  • Metis Nation of Alberta Citizenship Card
  • Metis Settlement Membership Card
  • Veterans Health Care ID Card.

Unregistered Voters

Voters who did not pre-register on the Permanent Electors Register to vote will be required to present government-issued photo identification that includes their name and current address.

Residents who do not have government-issued photo identification can still vote by presenting accepted identification containing their name and current address.

Voting Locations

Each neighbourhood has its own designated voting location.

Residents can confirm their designated voting location by entering their home address into the City's interactive voting map or viewing the zone map and voting station list, available under the Information for Voters section at cityofgp.com/information-voters.
