Federal Emergency Management Agency Designates 18 Counties in Mississippi as Natural Disaster Areas Due to Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Tornadoes and Flooding

This Presidential disaster declaration allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

Triggering Presidential Designation M4874:

Impacted Area: Mississippi

Triggering Disaster: Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Tornadoes and Flooding that occurred on March 14, 2025, through March 15, 2025.

Application Deadline: January 21, 2026

Primary Counties Eligible:

  • Mississippi: Calhoun, Carroll, Covington, Grenada, Humphreys, Issaquena, Itawamba, Jefferson Davis, Lee, Leflore, Marion, Montgomery, Pike, Prentiss, Sharkey, Smith, Walthall, and Washington

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

  • Alabama: Franklin, and Marion
  • Arkansas: Chicot
  • Louisiana: East Carroll, Tangipahoa, and Washington
  • Mississippi: Alcorn, Amite, Attala, Bolivar, Chickasaw. Choctaw, Forrest, Holmes, Jasper, Jones, Lafayette, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Monroe, Newton, Pearl River, Pontotoc, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union, Warren, Webster, Yalobusha, and Yazoo
