Luján Statement on President Trump’s State of the Union Address

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement in response to President Trump's State of the Union address:

"President Trump's State of the Union summed up his first year back in office: chaos, corruption, and higher costs for the American people, fueled by division and hateful rhetoric instead of a real plan to make life more affordable. Rather than acknowledging the pain families are facing, the President pointed fingers while patting himself on the back.

"The Trump administration has cut health care and food assistance for millions, allowed ICE to terrorize our communities and American citizens, and made life harder and more expensive for New Mexicans. The American people can see through the lies. My focus remains on doing what's right for New Mexico and fighting for our values and our future."
