If your child has a ProRider bicycle helmet, please read this important safety notice carefully.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has officially recalled ProRider bicycle helmets manufactured in 2022. These helmets were commonly distributed through safety programs. The helmets have been found to fail impact attenuation, positional stability, labeling and certification requirements. In plain terms, in the event of a crash, these helmets may not adequately protect your child's head and pose a serious risk of injury or death. Please stop using the helmet immediately. The City was not aware of these defects when they were distributed and immediately ceased all distribution of these helmets upon receiving notice of the recall.
Is My Child's Helmet Affected?
Check the label inside the helmet for the manufacturer's date. All recalled helmets were produced in 2022. Recalled models include the Economy Bicycle Helmet, Bike Helmet with Turn Ring, Bike Helmet Black Foam, BMX Helmet and Toddler Bike Helmet. They were sold in blue, green, red, black and purple. You can also visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website to verify your specific model.
Please note: even if your helmet is not part of this recall, it should be replaced every 5 years, as helmets naturally deteriorate over time.
What Should I Do?
Stop using the helmet immediately and dispose of it safely. To receive a full refund, destroy the helmet by cutting the straps and send a photo of the destroyed helmet to ProRider. To request a replacement helmet, you will need to provide a photo of the helmet, a photo of the inner label showing the manufacturer's date, the size of the helmet and your mailing address for the replacement.
