Chinese Embassy in PNG Holds the 2026 Spring Festival Reception

On 10th February, the Chinese Embassy in PNG held the 2026 Spring Festival reception. Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang and PNG Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, attended and delivered remarks. More than 200 guests including PNG governors, members of parliament, senior officials, friends from various sectors, and representatives from Chinese companies and Chinese communities gathered to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Ambassador Yang reviewed China's achievements in 2025 and the progress made in China-PNG relations. He elaborated on the great significance of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and announced the launch of the commemorative logo marking the 50th anniversary of the China-PNG diplomatic relations. He said that China stands ready to advance shoulder to shoulder with courage and determination alongside PNG, promoting the China-PNG comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.

Minister Tkatchenko expressed appreciation for China's long-term support to PNG's economic and social development. PNG highly values its relations with China, firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and looks forward to achieving more outcomes during the 50th anniversary of China-PNG diplomatic relations.

During the reception, Ambassador Yang presented Spring Festival "Warm Packages" to representatives of major Chinese communities in PNG.
