County Commissioners celebrated
Fire Prevention Week in October

FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners celebrated Fire Prevention Week in Monmouth County during a Workshop Meeting on Oct. 9.

"Proclaiming Oct. 5-11 as Fire Prevention Week provides a great opportunity for my fellow Commissioners and I to thank the men and women in the fire service who protect us every day," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "We want to recognize all of our volunteer and career firefighters for their bravery, for answering the call to serve and for keeping our communities safe."

National Fire Prevention Week, established in 1925, encourages and educates the public about fire prevention and safety.

"Fire prevention is also about engaging the public about ways to stay safe when around fire. This year's campaign, 'Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,' strives to educate everyone about using lithium-ion batteries safely," said Commissioner Dominick "Nick" DiRocco, liaison to the Monmouth County Fire Marshal. "The goal of the campaign is to stress the importance of buying, charging and recycling Lithium-Ion batteries properly to avoid fire hazards."
