Congressman Burchett Introduces the “American Meat Freedom Act”

For Immediate Release:

Washington, DC (March 5, 2026) -- Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN02) introduced the "American Meat Freedom Act." This bill amends the Federal Meat Inspection Act to allow meat products to be shipped, transported, offered for sale, and sold in interstate commerce. It is time we recognized small and medium-scale meat producers who are limited in their ability to access interstate markets.

"A cattle farmer in Campbell County should be able to sell their stock across state lines into Kentucky," said Congressman Burchett. "With this bill, I hope that we will see a rise in production and sales from our meat producers, so that we can continue to strengthen our nation's agricultural economy."
