Gender equality, professionalism and operational effectiveness
Maputo, Mozambique - On 5 August, another lecture was held dedicated to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, and the legal and institutional frameworks that promote prevention, accountability and equal opportunities.
The activity reinforced that gender equality is an essential element of military professionalism, operational effectiveness and institutional resilience within the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM).
The session highlighted that gender awareness is not about favouring one gender over another, but about ensuring equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for everyone.
It also underlined the fundamental role of leadership in promoting an organisational culture based on dignity, respect, fairness and professional conduct, recognising that the meaningful participation of women contributes to operational success, institutional development, conflict prevention and sustainable peace.
Through continuous education and institutional commitment, the activity encouraged the strengthening of individual and collective responsibility in building professional, accountable and effective Armed Forces.
