Texas Republicans Vote to Pass Their Rigged Maps Through Redistricting Committee Arrow

In response to Texas Republicans moving one step closer to passing a new, rigged Congressional map that disenfranchises people of color in Texas, DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:

"Texas Republicans are now one step closer to passing rigged congressional maps to give Trump a last-ditch chance in the midterms after his historically unpopular budget bill put billionaires above the working class. If Republicans want to disenfranchise people of color and delay flood assistance, Democrats will stand in their way. If Republicans want to lie and cheat in a desperate effort to save their majority after voting for one of the most unpopular bills of all time, Democrats will stand in their way. And if Republicans want a showdown, the DNC, Texas Democrats, and Democrats across the country have one thing to say: We will give you a showdown."

NEW: Texas Republicans voted to pass their rigged maps through committee, putting them one step away from passing these maps through the Texas House.

Greg Giroux: "Texas House congressional redistricting committee advanced the Republican map proposal on a 12-6 vote w/o amendment.
