West Jordan Steps Up for Service, Earns Just Serve City Recognition

The City of West Jordan has been officially recognized as a Just Serve City, an honor given for our community's commitment to service and compassion.

The recognition follows our 9/11 Days of Remembrance service projects. We completed every project we set out to accomplish, and demonstrated to each other and the rest of the valley that we have a strong culture of volunteerism.

City leaders were approached by the Just Serve organization and invited to receive the designation based on the scope and impact of this work.

"It shows that we value compassion, empathy, and community support, and that we foster strong partnerships within our community," said Glori Buchei, Community Outreach Coordinator for West Jordan City. "We believe in cultivating a culture of helping one another, volunteering, and engaging in acts of service."

The Just Serve City designation reflects West Jordan's ongoing efforts to bring residents, organizations, and partners together in meaningful ways, reinforcing the city's commitment to service as a cornerstone of community life.

The City Council proudly adopted the following proclamation on November 18, 2025.

WHEREAS, we believe that the values of compassion, empathy, and community support are the cornerstone of a vibrant, unified city, fostering connections that bridge gaps and transcend differences;

and WHEREAS, the strength and prosperity of our urban communities depend on the dedication of our residents, who selflessly serve and lift each other up in the face of challenges;

and WHEREAS, we cultivate a culture of giving within our city, where volunteerism is not just a responsibility but a rewarding opportunity that strengthens our collective spirit and well-being; and as we work together, learning, sharing, and growing;

and WHEREAS, we call on all citizens of the city to engage in acts of service, volunteer, and show kindness that contributes to our city's growth and the well-being of everyone, regardless of their background, belief, or walk of life;

and WHEREAS, the CITY OF WEST JORDAN proudly joins a growing movement of cities, led by the National League of Cities and its members, to champion the power of volunteerism in strengthening urban communities to foster deeper understanding, correct misconceptions, and form lasting bonds across diverse neighborhoods and backgrounds;
