October is Arts Month, and the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) is proud to join this annual community celebration orchestrated by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region. Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore, experience and engage with the arts through our exhibits and public programs.
The groundbreaking exhibit, "50% of the Story: Women Expressing Creativity", is the first permanent women's only exhibition in the state of Colorado. This exhibit continues to transform the CSPM collection to more accurately reflect the complexity, diversity and uniqueness of the Pikes Peak region.
"In addition to the over 150 pieces on exhibit in the '50% of the Story gallery', the CSPM has added over two dozen new pieces of art to the CSPM's permanent collection and will continue to actively collect in the years to come," said Leah Davis Witherow, CSPM curator of history. "We are thrilled to incorporate these new works into the '50% of the Story'exhibit to unveil a new experience as part of the region's celebration of art."
In addition to the gallery updates, the CSPM launched a new online experience for visitors and online users to explore the art and the artists' stories at cspm.org/exhibits/50-of-the-story.
