Route 47 in Washington County to close starting next week for bridge project

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Construction is scheduled to start next week on the Missouri Route 47 bridge over Mill Creek in Washington County, northeast of Potosi, near Cadet. UDT, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, plans to close Route 47 at the bridge on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, to complete the rehabilitation project, which is expected to continue through the end of October.

While the supporting structures are in good condition, the 60-year-old bridge deck is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. The new deck bridge will be wider than the existing structure, the bridge rails will be updated, and new guardrails will be installed at the bridge ends. During the bridge deck replacement, the roadway will be closed, and a signed detour will direct motorists to use Missouri Route 67, Missouri Route 8, and Missouri Route 21.
