Commission discusses the European Affordable Housing Plan with Member States

On Thursday 5 February, delegates from all ministries responsible for housing across the EU Member States gathered in Brussels for a meeting organised by the European Commission, to discuss the implementation of the European Affordable Housing Plan that was presented in December last year.

Representatives of the European Parliament and the Cyprus Council Presidency updated on their work, before diving into many of the topics covered in the European Affordable Housing Plan.

The meeting was an occasion to discuss how to operationalise the Housing Alliance with Member States, by working together on housing data and indicators, mobilising investment, simplifying planning and permitting, tackling short-term rentals and increasing supply in areas under housing stress, and addressing speculation, and supporting the most affected.

Member States expressed their commitment to continue working closely with the Commission and other stakeholders to implement the plan and create more affordable, sustainable and quality housing across the EU.
