Dallas, TX March 16, 2026 - Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) proudly joins transit agencies across the nation in celebrating National Transit Employee Appreciation Week this March, recognizing the dedicated professionals who keep North Texas moving safely and reliably every day.
National Transit Employee Appreciation Day was created by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to honor the contributions of transit workers nationwide and raise awareness of the critical role they play in daily mobility. Observed each March, many transit agencies have expanded the recognition into weeklong celebrations highlighting employees across operations, maintenance, customer service, and support functions who collectively ensure transit systems operate efficiently and safely.
At DART, the 2026 celebration will be observed under the theme "We Are DART," shining a spotlight on the people behind the service. Throughout the week, the agency will host employee recognition moments, leadership engagement opportunities, appreciation messaging, and division-based celebrations designed to honor team members across all departments.
From bus and rail operators to maintenance technicians, transit police officers, customer service representatives, dispatchers, planners, and administrative professionals, DART employees work around the clock to provide essential mobility to the region's residents, workforce, and visitors.
"Public transit is powered by people," said Nadine Lee, President & CEO of DART "National Transit Employee Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the professionalism, resilience, and dedication of our employees who serve our riders and communities with excellence every day."
DART serves 13 member cities across 700 square miles and provides critical connections to jobs, education, healthcare, and entertainment destinations throughout North Texas. Behind every trip is a team of committed professionals who make safe, reliable service possible.
Throughout the week, DART will share employee stories and recognition highlights across its internal and external communication channels, reinforcing the agency's commitment to its workforce and the communities it serves.
