OOLOGAH, Okla. - Significant progress has been made surrounding the renovations and construction at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch, with hopes of a grand reopening this Fall.
The property closed in 2025 for improvements essential to the preservation of the historic home and surrounding grounds. This consisted of foundation and structural work, a new roof, electrical systems, a water line and more. All work is carefully performed in accordance with applicable historical guidelines.
"Protecting the legacy of the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch is at the forefront of our efforts," said Donna Tinnin, senior manager of museums and events for Cheroke Nation Cultural Tourism. "These improvements extend beyond the actual home and include expanded exhibit elements that will elevate the visitor experience and ensure that stories of the 'Cherokee Kid' and the Rogers family will continue to be told for future generations."
While an official date has not yet been determined for the grand reopening celebration, visit the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch Facebook page for updates as the work enters its final stages in the coming months.
Due to the ongoing work, the annual Will Rogers & Wiley Post Fly-In will resume in 2027.
Cherokee Nation will commemorate the loss of Rogers and Post on Aug. 15, the anniversary of the tragic crash, through remarks made on the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch Facebook Page.
