Memorial Hospital Miramar Earns Level III Maternal Levels of Care Designation from Joint Commission

Memorial Hospital Miramar is one of only two hospitals in South Florida that has been verified as a Level III Maternal Levels of Care designation by the Joint Commission, recognizing its ability to provide specialized care for mothers with complex medical needs during and after pregnancy and ensuring access to advanced maternal care close to home.

This accolade reflects the hospital's multidisciplinary approach to maternal care, bringing together experts in obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, anesthesia, nursing and other specialties to ensure a seamless experience for every mother.

"This designation means our team is fully equipped with on-site subspecialists, critical care capabilities and advanced technology to manage complex and high-risk pregnancies. The Joint Commission's Maternal Levels of Care Verification program evaluates hospitals using evidence-based standards developed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The program confirms that hospitals have the expertise, resources and processes in place to care for mothers with a wide range of medical needs.

High-risk pregnancies can result from chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension or heart disease, as well as pregnancy-related complications including severe preeclampsia, placenta disorders, or multiple gestations. Receiving care at a hospital with advanced maternal capabilities can improve outcomes for both mothers and babies by ensuring immediate access to specialized physicians and lifesaving resources when complications arise.
