The volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak with a come-from-behind victory over No. 4 Washburn in the start of a 3-0 weekend at the Ichabod Classic.

Volleyball
The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball rebounded from a winless weekend in Tampa by going 3-0 in the Ichabod Classic, including a come-from-behind, five-set victory over tournament host and fourth-ranked Washburn in Topeka, Kansas. Maggie Johnson had a career-high 25 kills, Alayna Santel added 16, and the Tritons held the Ichabods to 27 kills in the final three sets to pull out a 17-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-10, 15-6 victory on Friday afternoon, snapping a four-match losing streak. UMSL followed up that win by beating Southwestern Oklahoma State 25-19, 25-17, 15-25, 25-16 Friday evening and capped a perfect weekend with a 25-22, 25-16, 25-17 sweep of Arkansas-Monticello. Santel led the Tritons in kills in both matches with 15 and 17, respectively, and topped 1,000 kills in her career. Marly Burbach totaled 128 assists in the three matches. Skylar Weaver led a strong defensive effort with 55 digs, including 29 against Washburn. UMSL (5-5) will play its first home match of the season when it opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play against Southwest Baptist on Friday and also takes on Drury on Saturday at the Mark Twain Athletic Center.

Women's Soccer
The Tritons blanked Upper Iowa 3-0 on Wednesday before playing Drury to a scoreless draw on Saturday at the Don Dallas Soccer Field. Avery Hesseldenz gave UMSL a first-half lead when she scored on a penalty kick in the 39th minute against the the Peacocks, and the Tritons added goals Ella Anselm and Maddy Kuhn after intermission. Kuhn now has a team-high three goals on the season. UMSL dominated possession and outshot Upper Iowa 34-2 with Allysa Wolf needing only one save to record her first shutout of the season. Wolf faced a tougher test against the Panthers and made four saves for her second consecutive clean sheet. UMSL was only able to put three of its 15 shots on goal and didn't score against Drury. The Tritons (3-1-2, 2-0-1 GLVC) will visit Indianapolis on Wednesday in their lone match of the week.

Men's Soccer
UMSL went 1-1 at home last week, knocking off Upper Iowa 3-1 on Wednesday at the Don Dallas Soccer Field but falling to Drury 2-0 on Saturday. The Tritons struck first against the Peacocks as Max Matviyiv scored in the 34th minute, Brady Freeman added two tallies after intermission. Freeman now has three goals on the season. UMSL's offense had a tougher time against the Panthers. The home team outshot Drury 7-2 in the first half but couldn't score, and watched Parker Jusseaume score in the 34th minutes to give the Panthers the lead. They pelted the Tritons with 12 shots in the second half, seven on goal. Goalkeeper Lucas Ortiz and his defense made six saves, but Steen Voller scored in the 71st minute. UMSL (2-2-1, 1-1-1 GLVC) will be on the road for its lone match this week, taking on Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Women's Golf
The Tritons finished fifth in the season-opening WinStar Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at WinStar Golf Club in Thackerville, Oklahoma. UMSL posted a combined score of 895 and were 27 shots behind tournament winner Dallas Baptist. Hillary Currier and Alaina Ervin both tied for 17th with 54-hole totals of 225. Currier finished the final round with an even-par 72, including an eagle on the 507-yard, par-5 first. Hope Williams finished 26th with a total of 227, Sarah Cuney tied for 27th with a total of 228, and Mayan Covarrubias tied for 30th at 229. UMSL will next compete at the Kansas State Powercat Classic on Sept. 28-29 at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas.
