UG Offices & State Agencies to Remain Open with Limited Staff on 8/11

In observance of fallen Deputy Elijah Ming's funeral service, on Monday, August 11, 2025, Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) offices and outlined state agencies will remain open, with limited staff on duty during the hours of 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to allow employees the opportunity to attend Monday's service.
UG Departments
- All UG Departments will remain open with select departments operating with limited staff until 1:30 pm.
- Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office - Administrative offices will be closed the entire day on Monday, August 11, 2025.
- Municipal Court - Will remain open, with limited staff from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
State Agencies
- District Attorney's Office - Will remain open for normal operations.
- District Court - Offices will remain open, with limited staff from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
All UG and States offices will return to normal operations and will be fully staffed by 1:30 pm.
We appreciate your understanding regarding any inconvenience this may cause. We thank you for your patience as we remember and pay tribute to our fallen hero.
Service Details for Deputy Elijah Ming
As a reminder, Deputy Elijah Ming's funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Children's Mercy Park (1 Sporting Way, KCK, 66109).
The service is open to the public and will begin at 11:00 a.m. Parking lots will open at 9:00 a.m., and the stadium gates will open at 10:00 a.m.
There will be a Law Enforcement Processional immediately following the service; route details will be announced and added to the Unified Government website and social media accounts.
Deputy Ming's service will be livestreamed on the Unified Government's YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person. Complete access details will be available on the UG website by Friday, August 8th.

Donations can also be taken to any branch of the Public Safety Credit Union, which are linked below. Please inform them that your donation is for the Memorial Account for Elijah Ming and they will take care of the rest. ALL proceeds collected will be donated directly to the family.
