EFTA and Indonesia hold second Sub-Committee and Joint Committee meetings virtually

From 30 June to 2 July 2026, representatives of the EFTA States and Indonesia met virtually for the second meetings of the Joint Committee and the Sub-Committees on Trade in Goods and on Cooperation and Capacity Building under the EFTA-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA).

Philippe Lionnet, Head of the Bilateral Trade Section at Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), chaired the EFTA delegation. On the Indonesian side, the meeting was opened by Johni Martha, Director General for International Trade Negotiations at Indonesia's Ministry of Trade, and co-chaired by Basaria Tiara L. Gaol, Director of Bilateral Negotiations.

During the meetings, the Parties reviewed the Agreement's functioning and exchanged information on recent trade and economic developments. The Sub-Committee on Trade in Goods discussed technical matters arising from the implementation of the Agreement, including rules of origin and preference utilisation. The Sub-Committee on Cooperation and Capacity Building discussed past and potential future cooperation activities. Discussions in the Joint Committee further covered commitments under Trade and Sustainable Development.
