Is Intel’s Record Sales Growth Still Improving

Intel Corporation (INTC) sold 25.4% more in the three months to June than it did in the same quarter a year earlier. The chipmaker has not grown faster in any quarter of the last ten years. To judge that record properly requires looking at what is normal for the company. So take a guess: in a typical quarter, how much more does Intel sell than a year earlier?

How Unusual Is This For Intel?

The answer is hardly any more. Across the last forty quarters, the median rise in Intel's sales from a year earlier was 1.3%. In a typical quarter, the company sells about what it sold a year before. That makes the quarter to June far outside Intel's normal. Here is the same quarter in each of the last ten years.

Quarter ended Sales growth from a year earlier
Jul 2017 9.1%
Jun 2018 14.9%
Jun 2019 -2.7%
Jun 2020 19.5%
Jun 2021 -0.5%
Jul 2022 -22.0%
Jul 2023 -15.5%
Jun 2024 -0.9%
Jun 2025 0.2%
Jun 2026 25.4%

The same fiscal quarter in each of the last ten years.

The previous high was 24% in the quarter ended March 28, 2020. That period is not shown in the table, but the quarter to June is the first to surpass it and set a brand new record.

What Is Behind Intel's Record Sales Growth?

During a July 23, 2026 call, management said Intel's businesses tied to AI, including data center chips, grew more than 70% from a year earlier. Those businesses now bring in about 70% of Intel's sales. Revenue in Intel's Data Center and Artificial Intelligence unit alone rose 59% from a year earlier. Management also noted that its outlook for server CPU demand had improved again.

Intel also got more for each chip it sold. Management said selling prices rose because Intel sold more of its pricier chips and raised some prices, partly to pass rising costs on to customers.

Is The Latest Quarter Still Improving?

The broader trend reveals more than the June figure on its own. Intel's sales fell 4.1% from a year earlier in the quarter to December 2025. Growth then turned to 7.2% in the quarter to March, before the record in the quarter to June. Intel's growth has now sped up in each of the last two quarters.

One quarter remains a short stretch to measure. Over the last twelve months, Intel's sales grew 7.5% from the twelve months before, which sits well behind the pace of the latest quarter.

When The Record Is Next Tested

In July, management expected sales in the quarter to September to come in about 1.2% above the quarter to June at the midpoint of its forecast range. That quarter has now ended, and Intel has yet to report the results. Management also noted that supply was very tight, with supply growth weighted toward the end of that quarter and into the next, especially for servers. For PCs, management expects PC consumption to fall by a low double-digit percent across 2026.

Intel stock has risen 182.7% over the last twelve months. When the company releases its next quarterly report, the key figure to watch will be sales growth from a year earlier for the quarter to September, tested against June's record.

Does This Mean You Should Act On INTC?

Our purpose is to inform you with unique data so you make the right investment decisions. That said, betting on a single stock is always risky, no matter which direction you choose.

There is a smarter approach. Since its inception, the Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio has returned 105%, beating the benchmark that combines the three major indices - the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000. And it did so without taking the concentrated risk that comes with do-it-yourself stock picking. If that is how you want to invest, the HQ Portfolio is the place to start.
