Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Shahin, met with members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Slovakia, along with senior Slovak officials, including advisors to the President and Prime Minister, government representatives, members of parliament, politicians, civil society and human rights representatives, academics, and media figures.
At the outset of the meeting, Minister Shahin thanked participants for their attendance and for expressing solidarity with the State of Palestine and its people.
During the meeting, Minister Shahin delivered a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause. She addressed the ongoing violations by Israeli forces in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, which aim at undermining key sectors serving the Palestinian population and impacting their rights on their land.
She also outlined the broader challenges facing the Palestinian government and people, including settlement expansion, displacement plans, land confiscation, and the targeting of Palestinian governmental and international institutions. In this context, she referred to attacks affecting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and its facilities, as well as dozens of other international organizations, warning that such actions undermine humanitarian efforts.
Minister Shahin reiterated that current Palestinian priorities include ending the occupation, halting the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, and preserving the unity of Palestinian territory under the Palestinian National Authority, within the framework of a two-state solution based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
