The City of Fort Worth's Office of the Medical Director (OMD), in partnership with the Golden Lasso program, recently provided hands-on Stop the Bleed and Narcan (naloxone) training to participating bars in the West 7th Entertainment District. The training reinforces the City's commitment to public safety, emergency preparedness and responsible hospitality.
Staff representing Golden Lasso-accredited establishments participated in practical instruction designed to help them respond to medical emergencies while awaiting emergency medical services.
Facilitated by OMD's Clinical Practice Team, the Stop the Bleed training covered three critical bleeding-control techniques:
Participants also learned when and how to administer naloxone, commonly known by the brand name Narcan, when an opioid overdose is suspected. Together, these trainings help prepare participating establishments to recognize and respond to potentially life-threatening emergencies.
This initiative supports the Golden Lasso program's broader mission to promote safer nightlife environments across Fort Worth's entertainment districts. Through safety-focused practices, specialized training and collaboration with public safety professionals, participating establishments demonstrate a commitment to protecting their guests, employees and communities.
The OMD is available to provide training in Stop the Bleed, CPR, first aid and naloxone administration for opioid-related emergencies.
