PHILADELPHIA, PA - Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Lead Democrat of the U.S. Congressional Delegation to the NATO Parliament, issued the following statement in response to President Trump's announcement that he will impose tariffs on NATO allies that refuse to support his plan to own Greenland:

"President Trump's belligerent threats against the sovereignty of a NATO ally are doing more damage to this important alliance than any attack from outside ever could.

President Trump is unilaterally slapping tariffs on six NATO nations, alienating our closest allies because he is throwing a tantrum over Greenland. He is succeeding in uniting the world, only against us.

Trump's tariffs will further weaken NATO and also mean yet another national sales tax that American families will be forced to pay.

It is long past time for Republicans in Congress to stand up and stop the President's catastrophic economic and foreign policy."
