WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted in favor of H.R. 8646, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agency Appropriations Act of 2027, legislation providing full-year funding for agricultural programs, rural communities, food safety, and nutrition assistance for fiscal year 2027.

"North Carolina is one of the top agricultural states in the country, and the poultry farmers, hog producers, and growers across our district do not have the luxury of waiting on Washington to get its act together," said Congressman Harrigan. "This bill funds the crop insurance, farm loans, rural infrastructure, and food safety programs that keep North Carolina's agricultural economy competitive, and I was proud to cast this vote for the farmers and rural families who keep this country fed."

The legislation provides funding across a broad range of programs critical to North Carolina's agricultural communities, including:

• Farm Service Agency county offices and farm loan officers to ensure farmers have direct access to federal agricultural programs and financing
• Crop insurance through the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to protect farmers against production and revenue losses
• Natural Resources Conservation Service conservation programs to support responsible land and water stewardship
• Rural water, wastewater, and broadband infrastructure to connect underserved communities to essential services
• Rural housing loans and grants and rural business development programs to support economic growth across the state
• Food Safety and Inspection Service meat, poultry, and egg product inspections to protect the integrity of the food supply
• WIC, the National School Lunch Program, and the School Breakfast Program to ensure nutrition assistance reaches families who need it
