Washington, D.C. - This morning, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) visited the Bartlesville area to hear from local business leaders, public officials, and high school students. Included in the meeting were new Bartlesville Chamber Director Tressa Cruse, Tri-County Tech Superintendent LaDonna Chancellor, Bartlesville City Manager Mike Bailey, and Economic Development Director Chris Batchelder. The Senator shared a brief update from Washington, D.C.-including the current partial government shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-before opening the floor for questions.

During the meeting, which took place at the new Bartlesville High School Agricultural Center, residents asked about a range of issues, including a major voter ID bill (called the SAVE America Act), changes to the Senate filibuster, and Senate confirmation of federal judges to the bench. Future Farmers of America (FFA) students also asked Senator Mullin about family-owned farms, crop insurance, and how he balances life as both a legislator and working cow-calf operator in Westville, Oklahoma.
"Bartlesville is a great community, and it's a pleasure to be back in town," said Senator Mullin. "We've worked together on a variety of issues, including water access, city improvements, and meeting the needs of their growing manufacturing sector. I appreciate everyone who took the time to join our conversation. I also want to thank BHS for hosting us-their new Ag building is exactly the type of investment we need to best educate our students, grow tech classes, and support trade programs to prepare our kids for success."
"The Bartlesville Regional Chamber of Commerce was proud to host Senator Mullin for a special Q&A, bringing together Chamber leadership, Premier Partners, and members of our local business community," said Tressa Cruse, Bartlesville Chamber Director. "Even more exciting, we partnered with Bartlesville High School to include students and members of their Leadership Team in this meaningful conversation."
"It was great to see the Senator in Bartlesville this morning," said Mike Bailey, Bartlesville City Manager. "The City of Bartlesville truly appreciates his support with all of our critical issues like water supply and federal regulations."
