Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs meets Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)

On 13 May 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Mr. Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), on the occasion of the latter's visit to Thailand and Myanmar.

Both sides exchanged views on the humanitarian situation in Myanmar, particularly in the aftermath of the earthquake on 28 March 2025. The Permanent Secretary reiterated the importance of the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar through bilateral channels, ASEAN, and International Organizations as well as by government, private sector and civil society organizations.

The IFRC expressed its readiness to work with Thailand and ASEAN, in supporting the provision of humanitarian assistance to areas with the most pressing humanitarian needs in Myanmar. They also commended Thailand's role and support in promoting international cooperation in the area of disaster risk reduction and response.
