WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) introduced the Improving IRS Customer Service Act to improve customer service at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Among other things, the legislation would expand information regarding refunds available to taxpayers online and help taxpayers with payment plans if they need it.
"Taxpayers deserve a simple, stress-free experience when dealing with the IRS,"said Dr. Cassidy. "This bill makes the process quicker and easier for taxpayers to get the information they need."
In a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing today, Cassidy secured a commitment from President Donald Trump's IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank Bisignano that the IRS would work with Congress to implement these reforms if the legislation were signed into law.
"I'm happy to meet with the team … and do all I can to make it as good as you want it to be,"said Mr. Bisignano.
