The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct and in person public information meeting concerning the MOVE New Haven Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at New Haven Hall of Records, Room G2, at 200 Orange Street in New Haven at6:00 p.m. The meeting location is ADA accessible.
The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit portal.ct.gov/NewHavenBRT.
"The purpose of the project is to enhance and modernize the existing local transit services to support current and future riders. These elements aim to deliver shorter travel times, improve schedule reliability, and create a safer, more accessible environment for all road users," said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Charles Wiegert. "We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design."
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements are in the form of partial takes associated with roundabout construction, mobility hub construction, and minor roadway realignments.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2028 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $307 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with a combination of federal and state funds.
