Strava Now Supports New language, Indonesia Bahasa, Following Significant Growth

Jakarta, Indonesia - 16th April 2025: Strava, the app for active people, has revealed the national language of Indonesia is now supported on its platform. The announcement showcases the company's commitment to the active community in Indonesia, providing a localized platform experience that enables users to make new connections with local communities, find motivation and achieve their goals.

The latest update follows a period of significant growth and innovation for Strava. The number of uploading users in Indonesia has increased tenfold in the last five years, and users in the region have increasingly trended younger and female. In the same time period, the number of women uploading from Indonesia has seen a near twenty times increase, with the number of Gen Z users almost tripling year-over-year.

"Expanding Strava to support users in Indonesia is an important milestone for us," said Chief Design Officer Anita Butler. "We are so inspired by the authentic and vibrant culture in the region, and love how sport is used as a way to socialize. We are fully focused on building a platform that empowers our expanding and evolving userbase in their pursuit of leading an active lifestyle - this update is just one of our latest shifts to further connect more deeply with our Indonesian community."

This news comes after Strava's Year in Sport Trend Report launched within Indonesia for the first time in 2024. Revealing the trends that shaped the active landscape, Strava data spotlighted how people are prioritizing balance in their fitness routines, with a drive to seek social connection through their workouts. In Indonesia, the report showed how important running is to the region, and how it provides a platform to connect with fellow local runners - participation in running clubs was found to have increased by 83%, and running was also identified as the fastest growing-social sport.

Through the ability to engage with other users, set custom running goals, celebrate personal achievements, log and understand training progress, plus more, Strava is a place where personal improvement can be found and authentic connections can be made.
