NASHVILLE, TENN - March 3, 2026 - Ingram Publisher Services ("IPS"), an Ingram Content Group brand, announces Steph Opitz as the new Director of Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, a distribution brand dedicated to championing independent publishers with bold voices and distinctive perspectives.
In this role, Opitz will lead Consortium's growth as a strategic leader shaping the future of publishing partnerships, driving expansion for the Consortium distribution brand, leading a high-performing team, and strengthening relationships with client publishers. As Director of Consortium, she will guide key initiatives that support independent publishers, helping them grow their businesses and extend their global reach.

Opitz brings extensive leadership to Ingram, most recently from Bookshop.org, where she served as Director of Bookstore Partnerships. She was previously the founding director of Wordplay at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and has held roles with major literary festivals nationwide, including the Texas Book Festival, the Brooklyn Book Festival, and the PEN World Voices Festival. She currently serves on committees for the National Book Foundation and the Authors Guild. Her book reviews and author interviews have appeared in Marie Claire, Kirkus, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Lit Hub.

Opitz is taking over this role from Julie Schaper who is retiring at the end of May of this year and will carry on the mission of Consortium to champion indie publishers and stories that shape culture. She is based at Ingram's Minneapolis, MN location.
