Prestigious Ornithology Fellowship Awarded to Biology Professor
The American Ornithological Society awarded Assistant Professor of Biology Jennifer Houtz a Kessel Fellowships for Ornithological Research on Monday, July 13.
Houtz is one of six 2026 fellowship recipients, earning $15,000 for her research on how rising global temperatures will affect disease susceptibility through the dysregulation of avian gut microbiomes.
"The 2026 Kessel Fellows are at the forefront of ornithological research; their work addresses a range of questions that will advance our understanding of birds and potentially inform future conservation efforts," states American Ornithological Society President Sara Morris in a press release.
