Deceased individual identified from fatal crash at Highway 24 and I-25

On September 10, 2025, at approximately 5:55 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for service regarding a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on the MLK bypass at I-25. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased individual on the northbound on-ramp to I-25. Initial investigation determined the pedestrian was struck at least once by a passing vehicle.

Due to the nature of the crash, the CSPD Major Crash Team responded to the scene to assume responsibility for the investigation. At this time in the investigation, impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

This is the 42nd traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 39 traffic fatalities. In the past 365 days, there have been 52 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
