Songs Without Words, an exhibit featuring works by musician and photographer Jacob Johnson, opens in the Education Hallway Gallery at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street, on Saturday, July 18.
Thoughtfully conceived as a unified artistic experience, Songs Without Words explores the relationship between music and photography, inviting viewers to "hear" visual imagery and "see" musical expression. The project is comprised of a photobook, an EP of solo guitar music, and public exhibition, which includes a live musical performance by Johnson himself.
An Opening Reception will be held Sunday, July 19, 6-8 p.m. at The Grand, with a musical performance beginning at 7 p.m.
Johnson is a musician and photographer based in the Dallas area. He specializes in guitar and lute performance and offers personalized private instruction. His repertoire spans the 16th century to present day, and includes many popular tunes arranged for solo guitar. Johnson is a published arranger and composer of music for guitars and other instruments and has been published as a music essayist.
This exhibition was funded in part by a City of Lewisville Artist Microgrant.
