Greensboro Police Arrest Suspect in Recent Shooting

GREENSBORO, NC (February 24, 2026) - A Greensboro man is in jail on $250,000 bond in connection with a shooting last week.

Greensboro Police responded to a shooting at approximately 10 p.m. Feb. 19 that injured a woman in the 1500 block of Woodmere Drive. Officers located and arrested the suspect, identified as Jalin Gainey, 30, and charged him Feb. 20 with the following:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Discharge of a firearm in city limits

In addition, Gainey faces a parole violation and a parole hearing is pending, according to online booking records.
