The Mayor's Message

The Library, in partnership with local gardening group Growing Together, is offering an indoor tomato seed starting workshop on January 28 at 6 p.m. at the Carlson Library.

The Library, in partnership with local gardening group Growing Together, is offering an indoor tomato seed starting workshop on January 28 at 6 p.m. at the Carlson Library with Jack Wood, founder of Fargo's Tomato Seed Savers Club. No registration is required and all materials will be provided.

The Northern Narratives 2025 writing project starts February 1 and will be accepting submissions of poetry, fiction and nonfiction writing through March 31. This writing project is for adults and teens.

Residents are encouraged to vote for their favorite plow names online at FargoND.gov/NameaPlow. Voting is open through January 27. The top five names will be displayed on the City's plows this winter. Individuals who submit winning names will receive Fargo gear and will be featured in a video shared on the City's social media channels. Some of the finalist names are: Betty Whiteout, Blader Tot Hotdish, BoomChickaPlowPlow, Buzz Iceclear, Da Snow Chipper, Far-go Your Snow, Fargo Blizzard Buster, Plowabunga, Teddy Snowsevelt and Wheeler Snow Peeler.

The Fargo international airport had its busiest year on record. Airline passenger traffic in 2024 increased by 6% when compared to 2023, and the total passenger count for 2024 was 1,092,836. The Fargo Airport Authority had a net income of $2.47 million over budget at the end of November 2024, revenue is $984,000 over budget and expenses are $1.4 million lower than budget. The airport's combined operating capital accounts are $49 million.

The Fargo Human Rights Commission hosted its annual MLK Day Celebration last night at the Fargo Theatre where awards were presented in adult, youth and business/nonprofit organization categories. The awards recognized community members whose work exemplifies Martin Luther King's legacy and uplift human rights. A special thank you to Fred Edwards for his excellent work in organizing this event.

On January 9, I presented Fargo's State of the City to the FMWF Chamber of Commerce. We take time to acknowledge all the City accomplished in 2024 while also looking forward to 2025. Together, our City continues to grow, thrive and inspire, thanks to the dedication of our residents, businesses and Team Fargo.
