Celebrate Mother’s Day with pop-up market at Cherokee Cultural Pathway

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Join Cherokee Nation in a Mother's Day celebration on May 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cherokee Cultural Pathway.

The market will feature more than 10 Cherokee artists, including three Cherokee National Treasures. Guests will have the opportunity to buy the perfect gift for mom from a wide variety of mediums, including pottery, basketry, textiles, beadwork and more.

"We hope that guests will come out to the Pathway, enjoy a beautiful day and find something truly meaningful to celebrate the mothers and caregivers in their lives," said Cherokee Nation First Lady January Hoskin. "This market is not only a chance to shop for gifts, but also an opportunity to connect with Cherokee art, culture and community in a vibrant and welcoming space."

In addition, live music will be played throughout the day alongside a make-and-take card station for kids. There will be opportunities to purchase fresh flowers, sweet treats and refreshments while enjoying the marketplace.

The Cherokee Cultural Pathway was opened in 2022 in an effort to improve safety and accessibility between the tribe's downtown cultural sites. It features rotating exhibit spaces alongside permanent art installations created by Cherokee artists.

The Pathway is currently hosting "Keli Gonzales: Drawn to Culture." The exhibit features 11 large-scale reproductions of Gonzales' work, demonstrating her unique and vividly rendered reflections on Cherokee identity today.
