(Portland, Oregon) -
Out of an abundance of caution, Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) has temporarily closed The Fields Park - located next to the vacant Centennial Mills building - from 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2026, until experts determine the area is safe from debris or other hazards.
The safety of all workers, park visitors, and neighbors remains Portland Parks & Recreation's top priority. The Fields Park, 1099 NW Overton Street, is a popular NW Portland gathering space featuring a large lawn, a fenced dog off-leash area, a playground, trails, picnic areas, and other amenities. Pet owners: the closest PP&R dog off-leash areas are at Couch Park and Wallace Park in Northwest Portland. For more information about PP&R dog parks, visit our dog off-leash page.
Since the fire on August 2, the City of Portland has been working closely with our partners at Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Multnomah County Public Health to monitor and report on environmental conditions. Nearby roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes have been closed, with detours clearly marked.
City officials remind everyone to stay away from the area, which remains an active investigation scene. Do not cross road-closure barricades or enter the Centennial Mills property.
