2026 Rain Barrel Program – Orders accepted through May 24, 2026

The City of West Chicago, in partnership with The Conservation Foundation, is excited to announce the 2026 Rain Barrel Program. This annual initiative gives residents an easy and affordable way to conserve water, reduce stormwater runoff, and support a healthier local environment.

Rain barrel sales begin March 2, 2026, and orders will be accepted through May 24, 2026. Residents can purchase barrels and accessories directly through the Upcycle Products online ordering system.

Order pick-up

Community pick-up will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the City's Recycling Extravaganza event at the West Chicago Metra Station Parking Lot. This convenient local pick-up helps residents avoid delivery fees. Home delivery is available only through the Conservation Foundation's website and is not part of the City's program.

Available rain barrels:

  • 55-gallon rain barrels - $72
  • 50-gallon rain barrels - $67
  • 55-gallon wide overflow rain barrels - $94
  • 50-gallon wide overflow rain barrels - $89

These rain barrels are repurposed, food-grade containers that would otherwise end up in landfills. Each rain barrel includes a heavy-duty screened top to help keep mosquitoes out.

Available products & accessories

  • Tumbling Composter - $175.50
  • Linking hose for connecting multiple rain barrels - $38.25
  • Additional products & accessories available

Using a rain barrel offers many benefits. Collected rainwater is perfect for watering gardens, lawns, and landscaping, washing cars, or other outdoor uses. At the same time, rain barrels help reduce stormwater runoff that can carry soil, fertilizers, and pollutants into local waterways, protecting rivers and wildlife.

Residents are encouraged to order early, as quantities may be limited. Additional educational resources and information about water conservation will also be available through The Conservation Foundation.
