As the program continues to grow, it brings positive impacts to the community, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the benefits of recreation.

The Special Populations program is designed to provide fun, inclusive activities for all to enjoy. Here's a glimpse of what's currently available:
This initiative is not pursued alone. Partnerships with organizations like Ability Plus, ARC of Madison County and others help ensure that individuals with disabilities have full access to the city's recreation facilities and programs.
Additionally, the department collaborates with the Miracle League of North Alabama to provide accessible sports programs for individuals with disabilities. Located at Brahan Springs Park, the Miracle League's baseball field is specially designed to accommodate players of all abilities, offering a safe and inclusive environment for both kids and adults.

"Working closely with residents who use our special populations programs always gives me a fresh perspective on how important these offerings are," said Tia Clayton, Special Populations Supervisor.
