Notes from the desk of Sheriff Abbott:

Uniform Response and the Detectives from our CID Unit handled a Shooting/Homicide in the City of Hartford. I cannot go into details being it's an open pending case with the suspect in custody. I can disclose an altercation took place, and ultimately the wife was lodged for the incident. It was an isolated incident with no danger to the public.

Uniform Response Assisted in a Pursuit of a Stolen Vehicle/Felonious Assault with South Haven PD. A Deputy was in the area when it started and was able to set up stop sticks as the vehicle was approaching. Right after hitting the sticks, the suspect driver's evasive reaction caused him to lose control, hence crashing in a ditch. It should be noted that when tires run over stop sticks, it deflates them steadily and doesn't blow out a tire and allows the driver to stop prior to the tire going flat.

I would like to Thank Everyone who Participated this past week in the Free Adoptions at the Shelter. I am pleased to announce every available dog was adopted but one. I believe that dog is going to be adopted right after I send out this update. To go further, we always appreciate the citizens adopting animals out of the shelter.

Our Office Participated over the last Few Weeks at Numerous Schools for Career Day. These are always great events and interactions with the kids to enlighten them on what we do and what a great career it can be.
