Consumer Brands Statement on USCMA 6-Year Review

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Consumer Brands Association issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration's announcement today regarding the six-year review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) from President & CEO Melissa Hockstad:

"The gold-standard USMCA finalized by the first Trump administration continues to deliver for the U.S. consumer packaged goods industry, but trade policy always adapts in a dynamic business and economic environment. Robust North American trade provides the supply chain certainty America's food, beverage, household and personal care manufacturers need to ensure access to key ingredients, deliver affordable everyday consumer products and support more than 22 million U.S. jobs.

Under the review process, the Trump administration has a unique opportunity to elevate an ambitious approach with Mexico and Canada at the table. As the Trump administration continues its trade negotiations, we are confident the president and USTR will build on USMCA's success with an America First position that strengthens North American competitiveness and supports U.S. manufacturing. Consumer Brands looks forward to continuing to work with USTR to secure these gains and lock in long-term investment and supply chain certainty for America's largest domestic manufacturing employer."
