FSIS Posts National Residue Sampling Report and Data

FSIS' National Residue Program Quarterly Report (April - June 2026) and associated datasets are now available on the FSIS website. The report and datasets include residue sampling data for domestic surveillance, inspector-generated, and import sampling programs for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026. The quarterly report summarizes the chemical residue results for the U.S. National Residue Program for meat, poultry, and egg products, helping to ensure a safe food supply.

FSIS Updates PHIS

On September 19, FSIS made significant updates to its Public Health Information System (PHIS). This included a new version of the Export 9060 application and approval process. It also included updating three domestic inspection components for industry including Noncompliance Records, Appeals, and Memoranda of Interview (meetings).

We understand that this week's update did not go as smoothly as planned. Critical functionality has been restored as of today, and we are continuing to work on any remaining issues within the system. We appreciate the ongoing communication from PHIS users and ask that you continue to report any technical issues to our team at [email protected]. Thank you for your patience and your support as we work to resolve them in a timely manner.

The new components, once fully implemented, should be faster and streamline workflows where possible, as well as help PHIS users find items that need attention more easily. All existing items in PHIS will be transferred to the new modules during the deployment so any work in progress will be available in the new modules after the deployment. The PHIS team will continue to support customers through this transition.

FSIS recently hosted webinars to demonstrate these changes to the domestic inspection components. The recordings, transcripts and timestamp user guides are now available on the PHIS page of the FSIS website.

FSIS continues to work on the next set of priority PHIS changes:

• Modernization of lab sampling processes in PHIS
• Modifications to Adulterated Product Monitoring (APM) to significantly streamline creation and processing of reported cases.
• Refinement of export E-cert functionality to allow electronic transfer of export certificate data to foreign governments
• FSIS began a project with the PHIS contractor in May 2026 to develop an export business continuity process to ensure export certification can continue when PHIS is unavailable for an extended period.

FSIS seeks public comments on proposed rules and notices, which are viewable on the FSIS Federal Register & Rulemaking webpage. FSIS is currently seeking comments on the following:

• Until October 13: Notice of Request To Renew an Approved Information Collection: Egg Products Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures
• Until November 9: Notice of Request to Renew an Approved Information Collection: Mechanically Tenderized Beef Products
