2026 OBL Day At The Capitol – Use Your Influence!

03/11/26

I'm just one person, how much can I really influence the government?

If you've ever had the above question pop into your head, you're not alone. Most people in the general public believe they are powerless when it comes to real influence on policymakers. The definitive answer to the question is: a lot, and a lot more than you think you can. Here's why...

Elected officials are hard-wired to serve their constituents. It is their primary function and sincere goal as a public servant. It's in the name. When you take the time to come to them to speak directly about issues, they listen. While we have dedicated industry lobbyists working on you and your bank's behalf day in and day out, sometimes your representatives hearing banking issues directly from you cuts through all the noise and moves the ball downfield. That is why OBL holds its annual Day At The Capitol in Columbus. We hope you can join us for this important advocacy event June 2&3.

Our team gives bankers a focused opportunity for valuable facetime with your legislators. You'll be joined on Capitol Square by bankers from across the state backed by the broader Ohio banking industry and OBL.

Picture this: You as a constituent make the trip to downtown Columbus to speak with your State Representative or State Senator in the same place they make these policy decisions. In this setting you are a "superconstituent". You are a representative of your bank, which is a major stakeholder in your community both as a job creator and an integral piece of the local economy. You don't need to be a public policy expert - OBL has that base covered. Where you pack the most punch is simply sharing your first-hand experiences with our current issues - which we provide both you and the legislative offices ahead of time. From topics like fraud prevention and customer education to your institution's participation in state programs, you have a personal connection to the issues with stories that make these conversations and our message "stick".

Please consider joining us or sending a member of your team to the 2026 OBL Day At The Capitol, June 2&3.

If you have any questions about this event, please reach out to OBL Manager of Government Relations & BankPac Anthony Lagunzad.
