WHAT: Road Closures for Victorville Veterans Day Celebration
WHEN: Nov. 11 from approximately 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.
WHERE: 7th Street between Mojave Drive and B Street and Forrest Avenue between 7th Street and 8th Street (Victorville, Calif.)
DESCRIPTION: On Tuesday, Nov. 11 the City of Victorville will host its 29th Annual Veterans Day Celebration. As a result, portions of 7th Street and Forrest Avenue in Old Town Victorville will be closed temporarily for this special event.
Road closures will be in effect on 7th Street between Mojave Drive and B Street and on Forrest Avenue between 7th Street and 8th Street from approximately 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.
No traffic will be permitted to drive on or across 7th Street during this time.
Motorists are asked to use caution and use alternate routes such as Hesperia Road when traveling in Old Town on Tuesday morning.
The City's Veterans Day Celebration will kick-off with a parade at 9 a.m. The Parade will travel from the corner of Tracy and 7th Street and proceed Northeast on 7th Street to the corner of B Street.
The Veterans Day Ceremony will immediately follow the parade at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the corner of 7th Street and Forrest Avenue in front of the Victorville Veterans Memorial.
The City will once again incorporate a Salute to Victorville Veterans into the Ceremony. Information about their military service will appear in the event program, and their photos will be featured in a commemorative video.
This year's Ceremony will feature a video discussion with City of Victorville Employee Veterans that provides a glimpse into what it's like to serve in the U.S. military and how their service shapes their lives. The Ceremony will also feature a flag raising by Members of the 18th Brigade California Cadet Corps and a performance by this year's Victorville Sings Champion, Ivan Gonzalez.
