I-95 Ramp Closure Starts This Weekend
RICHMOND HILL, GA - As part of the bridge maintenance project, L. C. Whitford Co., Inc., along with the traffic shift in place, will close I-95 Exit 87 northbound on-ramp from US 17 for the next two weekends beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, September 26 as part of the overall project's maintenance staging plans. I-95 Exit 87 northbound entrance ramp complete weekend closures with detour in place are scheduled from 9 p.m., Friday, September 26 until 5 a.m., Monday, September 29 and again from 9 p.m., Friday, October 3 until 5 a.m., Monday, October 6. If weather delays work, these closures will be pushed back a weekend until work is completed. Traffic will be detoured via US 17, SR 144 and I-95 Exit 90 on-ramp. Ramp closures are required for edge bridge beam work to be completed. Motorists are reminded that I-95 at Exit 87 this is a WORK ZONE and are advised to reduce speed and exercise extreme caution travelling through this area. Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes. As always, for information about travel conditions on Georgia's interstates and state routes, call 511 before getting on the road. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, including traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays. Callers can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In southeast Georgia, you can also request CHAMP roadside assistance by calling 511.
