DME Enrollment Moratorium Not Expected to Affect Most Podiatrists

Last week, CMS announced a moratorium on enrollment (and enrollment expansion) for certain medical supply companies. This enrollment moratorium affects medical supply companies whose principal function is to furnish DMEPOS supplies, which does not represent most physician suppliers. Pharmacies, physicians, hospitals, physical therapists, and other DMEPOS supplier types other than the medical supply company types specified will maintain their ability to enroll and open new practice locations throughout the country. CMS states this enrollment moratorium is related to its efforts to decrease "fraudulent billing."

APMA will continue to monitor the implementation of this moratorium and provide as necessary. Contact the APMA Advocacy Department with any questions at [email protected].
