Denver Launches Spanish Translation for Campaign Finance Transparency

Denver Launches Spanish Translation for Campaign Finance Transparency

Published on June 12, 2025

For the first time, Denver residents will be able to access to campaign finance, lobbying, and ethics data in Spanish, a significant step toward improving transparency and expanding access to election and ethics information across the city's diverse communities.

SearchLight Denver is the City and County of Denver's online platform for campaign finance data related to municipal candidates and ballot measures. The tool also includes lobbying activity and ethics disclosures for elected and appointed city officials.

"This update removes a key barrier for thousands of voters and community members who want to understand how money flows in local elections - or who may want to run for office themselves," said Denver Clerk and Recorder Paul D. López. "It's part of our continued commitment to ensure all Denverites have the tools to better democratize public data."

This marks the first time the Clerk & Recorder's Office has offered real-time campaign finance data online in Spanish. Labels, charts, navigation tools, and supporting information will now be available in Spanish, while user-submitted data-such as committee names, donor names, and addresses-will remain in the language in which it was entered.

Users can access the Spanish version of SearchLight Denver at https://denver.maplight.com/public by clicking the "Spanish" button at the top right of the screen. To return to English, users can click "Inglés."

The Clerk & Recorder's Office developed SearchLight Denver in partnership with MapLight, a nationally recognized nonprofit specializing in government transparency and civic technology solutions.
