US flag flies over 26 overseas military cemeteries for America 250

ARLINGTON, Virginia - Nov. 3, 2025- The U.S. flag, traveling the world for "Flag Sojourn 250," traveled approximately 40,000 miles over the last few months and flew above 26 American Battle Monuments Commission cemeteriesin 10 countries.

Kicking off June 14 at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., the historic flag journey is a partnership between the National Flag Foundation, the National Sheriff's Association, and the American Battle Monuments Commission. The flag is expected to begin its U.S. journey Nov. 11 from Washington, D.C. and will fly over cemeteries in every state, ending with the original 13 colonies. The flag's trip will conclude in Washington, D.C. July 4, 2026, for America 250.

"As we approach America's 250th anniversary, the flag's journey honors the sacrifice of our service members buried in the U.S. but also remembers and preserves the memories of those who never made it back to our shores." said Rob Dalessandro, ABMC acting secretary.

The flag traveled to ABMC's cemeteries in Europe, the Philippines, Tunisia, Mexico and Panama. Click here to follow the flag's journey.
