CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2026) - Charlotte County Fire & EMS invites residents to a community open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10, at Fire Station 4, 13600 Marathon Blvd. in Gulf Cove.
Station 4 is one of two Charlotte County Fire & EMS stations supporting the department's Marine Operations Team. Marine Operations personnel are specially trained and equipped to respond to emergencies on and around Charlotte County's waterways, including water rescues, boating incidents and other marine emergencies.
During the open house, visitors can tour the station, view fire, emergency medical and marine operations equipment and meet the crews who serve the community. Personnel will also be available to discuss the department's marine response capabilities and the specialized equipment used during water-related emergencies.
"Charlotte County's extensive waterways require specialized training, equipment and personnel prepared to respond when emergencies happen on the water," said Charlotte County Public Safety Director and Fire Chief Matthew McElroy. "This open house gives residents an opportunity to learn more about those capabilities while connecting with the crews who serve their community every day."
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
An additional Charlotte County Fire & EMS community open house is scheduled for Oct. 24 at Station 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.
